So this Sunday brings the annual Puerto Rican Day Parade to the streets of Manhattan in all its glory…i’ve had mixed feelings about this day for years, been highly criticized because of it and still, my jury is out. I am elated that this event brings so much joy to its revelers and participants. I used to march along side my dad and the the hispanic court officer society back in the day, but then i got older…and the crowds got rowdier, and the men-disrespectful. For those who put on a great show, carry themselves as proud ‘ricans, have a blast. but for those of you that propagate the stereotypes, hang from fences with your cat calls, grab asses and breasts that don’t belong to you and in general, shame your people- i’ll do you all a favor…i’ll be miles away from la desfila, honoring my people with a traguito de ron and spend my life leading my example of what it means to be a proud p.r. We have so much to be proud of, always have…
Que Viva Puerto Rico!
